Debt Shouldn’t
Define You.

Anyone facing financial challenges deserves an advocate – someone working for them. With the right tools and guidance, no one has to face debt alone.

Debtors can find clarity and regain control with the help of Debtors Advocates—the first step toward lasting financial well-being.

Our Mission

We were created to ensure that nobody in Canada faces financial hardship without a dedicated voice to champion their individual needs. The Canadian Debtors Association empowers financially vulnerable Canadians through education, advocacy and fair practices. We support a community of Debtor Advocates, trained and certified to help Canadians find financial security. We collaborate with debt and credit industry stakeholders to advance ethical standards and build a network of trusted professionals.

Debtors Have Rights

Debtors are the foundation of the consumer credit industry, yet their rights have long been overlooked. It’s time for debtors to be treated with fairness. They deserve the consideration that underpins a just credit system.

Success Stories

For years, I worked two jobs, kept up with my bills, and tried to save for emergencies. Then my wife fell ill. Expenses started piling up. Before I knew it, I was drowning in debt.

Daily creditor calls were relentless. I stopped answering my phone. I didn’t know where to turn – until I found the Canadian Debtors Association.

The CDA connected me with an advocate who helped me understand my options. I learned to communicate with creditors and consolidate debts into manageable payments. For the first time, I wasn’t alone.
